Posting this since I’ve just seen Control.
Oh, come on, you’ve gotta know about Ian Curtis and Joy Division. If not, I’ll make things short since I’m a lazy sod: First post-punk band, took the concept of punk and made it all about depth and introversion, Ian Curtis was a depressed epileptic who had trouble in his relationships, he wrote the dark, poetic lyrics for Joy Division. They merely released two studio albums before Ian decided to do himself in and hang himself. The rest of the band then renamed themselves to New Order and went to have a succesful career to this day.
In all seriousness, though, check out the album Unknown Pleasures and decide if you like them.
I doubt I’ll get any.
